About Ladakh


Ladakh is a high altitude tourist destination. On arrival, via air specially, as first and the foremost being one's health, you are advised to strictly follow acclamatization norms such as complete horizontal rest for a whole day. once this is done then just move out of those four walls and explore the beautiful, unique and the rugged place called Ladakh!!! Leh is a small town, with the Leh Palace very prominent on the hillock beside and a small Main Market in the shape of the alphabet "L". There are a lot of multi cuisine restaurants during the tourist season months from april to september.The main market area and other nearby streets are filled with small and big shops with all kinds of souvenirs, mainly pashmina shawls, stoles, small trinkets and other interesting things for shopping. A walk in and around the market can show you quite a bit happening. The main market is a very happening place during the months of the tourist season.Tourist come out to hang around in the evenings, after a long trek or a charismatic Nubra and Pangong trip or even just to see the evening lights and fresh air before a trip! Just at every corner you are almost sure to see someone performing a solo singing with his strings, or some young juggler trying new stunts with his ring or the rope, a duet street singing and performing or even a quick political speech by one of the political leaders. Live music can be heard at a roof top restaurant facing the fantastic Leh palace not far away! A very lively sight to see all throughout the day, into the evening and night too! The small and cozy garden restaurants make a very special environment to end the day with. The bon - fire, the music, the food and the company of the mountains make the night special in every way and of course the fun loving people or even happen to see a Bollywood film star join on one of the tables to dine along! Leh town has quite a few interesting places like the Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, Chanspa market road, the Pagal Zing a water reservoir people go swimming during a hot day, Moti Market The Local Ladakhi Market, the lively biker cafes and surely The Donkey Sanctuary!!! The outskirts of Leh town are for the ones who want a different environment.The scenic, lush green, picnic spots along the banks of river indus at Thiksey village can be a stunning evening to witness a yonder sunset with the breeze accompanying the sunset. Its surely not a bad idea to unpack the tent as you will find many spots to pitch it and watch the night sky. There is something for everyone, the Sham trek can be done even along with your children as young as 10 years old, Markha valley trek is a trek that test your physical stamina and there are technical peaks for the ones who want to rope up! Like thirst adventure is quenched momentarily!
